Ralph Lauren Sunglasses Ad

Some of my favorite ads are Ralph Lauren ads. This ad is a few years old & I have recently seen it circulating on tumblr and pinterest so I looked for the original. The ad appeared in a 2009 Elle magazine and the intended audience is young fashionable women who regularly read high-end fashion magazines. The purpose is to not only sell Ralph Lauren sunglasses or the Ralph Lauren brand but the ad is trying to sell a lifestyle that only Ralph Lauren can provide. The ad is up to much interpretation and begs many questions. Who is this woman? Where is she going? What is she watching? What is her life like? In my interpretation the woman is relatively young late 20s or early 30s. Her upbringing probably included an expensive education and perfect family. She probably travels quite often and maybe she works hard for a living or maybe she is a trophy/housewife. She has a very upscale, plushy life. This is the point of view that the advertisers were trying to create; they wanted their audience to make their own interpretations about the woman in the ad and her lifestyle. The company ultimately wants to sell the sunglasses but the audience will believe that the sunglasses are a gateway to the lifestyle they believe the woman has. “You can have the lifestyle you dream I have if you buy my product.”

Karolina Kurkova Rachel Zoe Collection

I was pleasantly surprised that this was Rachel Zoe, I'm not a fan of the headpiece but the dress is flawlessly sunning! Congrats both!

I have been collecting pictures for years. I started out with fashiontoast but I haven't visited her website in years. Most pictures are from my favorite website thisisnotnew. & this picture is on I found about a year ago. 

Then a few days ago I found the side view & full body view of the same picture.

 In this blogspot/tumblr/pinterest world it is so hard to find the origins of anything, now I didn't find the origins but I did find the complete outfit. You probably don't get this but I was so amazed that it was the same outfit & picture!

Carrie Bradshaw & sex & the city

Carrie bradshaw's outfits on sex and the city have never been my favorite. Charlotte's outfit choices we're alright much better than carrie's crazy & awful style but she still seemed a bit too uptight & traditional with her clothes. Samantha's choices we're sometimes inspiring but the good we're even with the bad, some very bad. What were these women thinking!

Obsession: Olivia Palermo

Normally I'm not obsessed with one person but Olivia is an exceptional exception! I'm pretty sure I haven't seen her in an outfit I didn't like. I've had a specific folder on my computer for pictures devoted solely to her & her fantastic fashions and impeccable taste. You'll see why...

Ending

The end of the year is ending! It has been one crazy year! Playing Division II Lacrosse, joining a sorority, adding a minor, it's been a lot! I'm exciting to be taking a break and going back home to see my friends and family and going back to work will be fun. But I'm going to celebrate like this!

Blog & Ads

Some people follow a few fashion blogs & I wanted to share one of my favorites, http://www.thisisnotnew.com/ this blog is so simply done with only pictures, that's it. The compilation of the pictures is flawless all the pictures are like mini advertisements I don't hate to look at. I like to look at the advertisements in magazines I think advertisements are wonderful. They paint a picture of a life that you may want to have and the ads make you believe you can have that life if you just buy their product. The advertisement lifestyle dreams are endless. One of my favorite brands and in my opinion one of the best advertising team is Michael Kors. This is a perfect example of "you can have this lifestyle too if you buy my product"

I would love to be a celebrity and have paparazzi following me making me feel important and loved, and I would love to walk the red carpet. This ad paints that desired Hollywood lifestyle without being over the top. Thats what makes Michael Kors's ads different than other ads. His ads are simple not over the top and he lets his products speak for themselves. In this ad it's simple a girl walking down the street, not harsh lighting for crazy pose but his style and clothes are so impeccable he doesn't need a crazy ad to sell his clothes.

I think this dress is amazing and I would love to have it and the ad is beautiful, it looks like real life as if someone with a camera walked down the street to see a couple leaving an afternoon lunch. This ad compared to many other fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs where major special effects and retouching are used such as in the Louis Vuitton ad with Madonna.

The colors are very distorted we can hardly see her face despite the fact that Louis Vuitton is paying Madge millions to be the face of their brand. Louis Vuitton had gotten a lot of backlash from this ad campaign using the special effects.
